Something we know would help merchants around the world is having a multi-language Bigcommerce Backend or Control Panel. And although this neat little trick is not one we developed, we sure would like to share it with you.
Bigcommerce has been around for quite some time now, but the platform’s backend has always only been available in the English language. Good news for many is the fact that you can use the Google Translate tool bar to fully translate the Bigcommerce Control Panel into most languages.
Translate your Bigcommerce Control Panel automatically
Since you regularly visit your Bigcommerce Control Panel, you might want to turn on Toolbar’s automatic webpage translation tool. That way, you can have all the pages in your Control Panel automatically translated to your own language.
Turn on automatic page translation
- Login to your Bigcommerce backend. A translation bar will appear near the top of the page.
- On the right side of the translation bar, click the gray Translate button.
- After the page is translated, check the box next to “Always translate [language]” in the translation bar at the top of the page.
Contribute to a Better Bigcommerce Back End Translation
All you need to do is hover your mouse over the word you would like to have translated differently and click “Contribute a better translation“. Enter the word as you would translate it and submit to Google.
The Bottom Line
True, Google Translate is not perfect, but having played with it in the Spanish language it is pretty darn close to the real thing. Truth is we can hand the Bigcommerce Control Panel to a Spanish speaking customer and he or she will be able to read and understand what each section is. Bigcommerce multi-language backend is possible with this tool.
